DIRECT PULP CAPPING:
1) Under rubber dam isolation, complete cavity preparation outline using high-speed burs under constant water-cooling
2) If caries is present, completely excavate using low-speed and/or hand instrumentation
3) Rinse the cavity and exposure site(s) with 2.6%-5% NaOCl. Heavy bleeding may be controlled with a cotton pellet moistened with sterile saline
4) Gently dry preparation with cotton pellet. Avoid desiccation
5) Dispense equal volumes of base and catalyst pastes on the parchment paper pad provided
6) Replace container caps. Using a Dycal® Liner applicator, stir immediately to mix thoroughly until a uniform color is achieved. Do not over-spatulate.
7) Make sure to complete mixing within 10 seconds
8) Do NOT attempt to control the setting time by increasing or decreasing the amount of catalyst dispensed.
INDIRECT PULP CAPPING
1) Using the ball-pointed Dycal® Liner applicator or similar instrument, place the mix directly on the exposed pulp and cavity dentin judged to be less than 1.0mm remaining thickness in a thin layer
2) Avoid placing Dycal® Liner on enamel or the margins of the cavity
3) Avoid placing a large bulk of material. Material thickness should be approximately 0.8mm-1mm. 1.7
4) Allow the Dycal® Liner to completely set. The mixed material will set in approximately 2-3 minutes on the mixing pad under normal room conditions (70°F with 50% relative humidity)
5) Set time is shorter in the mouth due to moisture and temperature
6) Remove any set excess from retention areas, enamel, and/or margins with a sharp spoon excavator or a bur
7) Place desired adhesive, base, and/or restoration following manufacturer’s directions
8) At the next appointment, assess the pulp vitality. Pulp vitality and status should be assessed radiographically every three to six months or as needed
Indications:
Flexes and absorbs the stresses caused by polymerization shrinkage, as well as thermal expansion and contraction of composite resin materials.
Toothlike coefficient of thermal expansion maintains the marginal integrity
Acts as a thermal insulator
STEPS:
Insert Paste Pak into dispenser - twist into position
Dispense desired amount of material
Replace cap to keep material fresh
Mix with spatula for 10 seconds
Apply in preparation, spread to level floor or walls of a prepared cavity
Cure for 20 seconds
1. Dispense 1 scoop (0.05 gm or 0.1gm) of NuSmile NeoMTA Powder on a glass slab or a non-absorbent pad
2. Dispense one drop of NuSmile NeoMTA Gel as a streak 0.5”-0.75” long next to the Powder
3. Gradually add gel into powder. Incorporate the gel by spatulating the powder/gel mixture firmly against the glass slab while mixing to ensure all of the powder is thoroughly wetted by the gel until a putty-like consistency is obtained
-Pulpotomy-mix to firm putty
-Pulp capping, base/liner-mix to firm putty or thinner if desired
-Apexification-mix to firm putty/clay NOTE: The Gel imparts washout resistance (for easier rinsing) and faster setting, which other liquids do not. Mixture is immediately washout resistant when placed
7. If the material is not to be used immediately, cover the mixed material with a moist gauze sponge (use sterile water), or a clean cover to reduce evaporation. If the mixture becomes dry, extra Gel may be used to rewet the Powder before it sets
8. If the mixture is too tacky add a small amount of Powder. For future mixtures, use less Gel.
1) Place vaseline on tooth
2) Warm dental stopping w/ torch and place in the interproximal area up to the pulpal area, but not above contacts
3) Mix together monomer and liquid using dappen dishes (dip brush in liquid, then in monomer)
4) Place on tooth and shape with tools
5) Wipe saliva on opposing and have patient bite down
6) Adjust as needed. Patient should not floss in this area, it should be rubbery
