The Beekeeping club is a great opportunity in those interested in bees and beekeeping. It provides students the opportunity to learn what it is like to manage bees in farms like this and the tools and requirements necessary to do so.
The Mycology club gives students interested in the study of fungi the chance to delve into a hands-on experience, granting them the ability to grow fungi themselves and allowing them to experiment with the conditions and type of fungi they grow. Mycology is not only extremely beneficial to the farm itself but to many important applications such as medicine and the food industry.
Green Sprouts Academy is a program run by UCCS where younger students can study and learn about the process of gardening. This summer program teaches children ages 5-12 about the importance of sustainability.
Children learn by digging, planting, and observing the rhythms of nature. They explore compost piles, watch worms at work, and see firsthand how healthy soil helps plants grow. These experiences foster curiosity, environmental stewardship, and a deep respect for the Earth.
Green Sprouts Academy is a living example of how soil connects generations. While we grow food for today, we’re also growing the next generation of sustainability leaders.
