On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, July 15, 2020, UBA Cell, RGIT in association with Department of Applied Science and Humanities, RGIT conducted an online webinar on Career building through Civil Service Examinations with the motto to make the students aware about the preparation for the prestigious civil services such as IAS/IPS/IES. The Webinar aimed to discuss about the various career opportunities related to civil service exams and the role of technical education in it. The Career Guidance Webinar was attended by 2691 participants eager to incorporate their knowledge for the betterment of the nation.

UBA Cell, RGIT went forward to join hands with intelligent minds in rural development sector and utilize their expertise to design solutions for novel problems. UBA Cell conducted an online workshop from June 25, 2020 to June 27, 2020 as a means to discuss the revival and reconstruction of livelihoods in rural India keeping the focus to envisage a self-reliant economy for Rural India in days looking forward to Atmanirbhar Bharat. The workshop successfully developed the identification of innovative projects to be taken up under R&D programs by professional institutions under the context of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. A total of 1265 participants had attended the three day workshop including students and teachers from various Participating Institutes.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of MCT’s Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology had taken up several activities towards awareness about COVID-19 through social media and other interactive platforms. Awareness has been created among the students, teachers and other members regarding the coronavirus and precautions to be taken for the same. The interaction with the villagers has brought into light the problems faced by them and the necessary action can be taken. UBA CELL RGIT witnessed participation of 668 students and faculty members combined in all our COVID-19 awareness activities.

The meeting with District Magistrate & Collector, Ratnagiri was organised on February 07, 2020. The discussion was arranged with members of various institutes and district authorities for encouraging technical projects for rural areas and solving problems associated with the same. The meet witnessed the presence of Mr. Sunil Chavan, District Magistrate & Collector, Ratnagiri, Mr. Devendra Suralkar, RIL, Dr. Kiran Chaudhari, Co-ordinator, UBA Cell, RGIT and UBA Cell student committee members. This report highlights the discussions carried on related to projects of UBA Cell, RGIT, their implementation and future scope.

After evaluating the conditions of the village as witnessed in Technical Survey Visit, and designing suitable projects for the same, a detailed meet with the migrated villagers of Mundhe Tarf Savarda village was conducted on 26-01-2020. The meet witnessed the presence of UBA Coordinator- Dr. Kiran Chaudhari, Village authority, UBA student committee and migrated villagers. The village committee shared their expectations and views on the proposed projects while assuring their co-operation for successful implementation of the projects.

As a part of the projects planned under RDI 2.0, a technical survey visit had been conducted to Mundhe Tarf Savarda village by a team of twelve students from 17-12-2019 to 19-12-2019. The objective of the visit was to study and analyse the scope of sustainable technological development in the village. After evaluating the conditions of the village and designing suitable projects for the same, a detailed meet with the migrated villagers of Mundhe Tarf Savarda village was conducted on 26-01-2020.
To observe every aspect of villages and collect relevant information for project building.

On October 02, 2019, as the whole nation geared up to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, MCT’s Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Mumbai commemorated this day, and marked the completion of its one year journey of working as a participating institute for the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan initiative, launched by MHRD, Government of India.

In August, 2019, floods wreaked havoc in the districts of Kolhapur and Sangli with the city of Sangli completely marooned. To extend a helping hand for the same, UBA Cell, RGIT organized a Flood Relief Drive. With extensive help from the Principal, teaching & non-teaching staff and students of MCT’s RGIT, funds were raised to provide fundamental school supplies to the students of flood affected regions of Sangli district. A team of 5 students visited Ankalkhop, Sangli on August 23, 2019 along with Dr. Kiran Chaudhari, UBA Co-ordinator, RGIT.

Tech4Seva was a joint initiative of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and Vijnana Bharati. The main Focus of this workshop was to provide a platform to academicians & scientists (who are working towards the development and adaptation of technologies) to showcase their work on socially relevant technologies voluntary and other social organizations and facilitator organizations that are working with the communities to address the concerns, issues and challenges of people - entrepreneurs, start-ups and organizations that are working with medium, small, and cottage entrepreneurs; to bring the solutions to the Field - CSR conscious corporates to provide Financial supporting areas of growth and development.

UBA Cell, RGIT has constantly been working towards wholesome rural development through techno-social initiatives and projects since its inception.. On July 15, 2019, an Orientation Program was conducted where UBA Cell, RGIT was formally introduced to the students in the presence of Chief Guest, Dr. Bakul Rao, (Associate Professor, CTARA, IITB), Dr. Kiran Chaudhari, Co-ordinator of UBA Cell, RGIT and UBA Faculty co-ordinators from every department. The purpose of above mentioned program was to create awareness among students regarding UBA and its benefits and to increase their understanding of rural issues through exhibition of techno-social initiatives.
