Texas High School Welding Series 2026-2027 Welding Certification and Build-Off Events
Welding Certification Event
A Welding Certification Event brings students from multiple schools together to demonstrate their welding skills through industry-recognized certification testing conducted by AWS Certified Welding Inspectors. Events may also include competitive elements, awards, or opportunities to qualify for the TXHSWS State Competition.
Build-Off
A Build-Off is a hands-on team fabrication competition where students work together to complete a designated project within a set amount of time. Teams are evaluated on areas such as welding quality, fabrication, accuracy, safety, teamwork, and the overall finished project. Some Build-Offs also serve as State-Qualifying events.
Certification Day
A Certification Day brings an industry professional an AWS Certified Welding Inspector directly to a high school or district campus to conduct welding certification tests. The school insructor or district selects the tests that best align with their curriculum and student skill levels. Certification Days are school or district focused and do not have to be competitive.

What is a High School Welding Certification Day
A Certification Day brings an industry professional, an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) directly to a high school or district campus to conduct welding certification tests for students.
The host teacher or district selects the specific weld tests that best align with their curriculum and student skill levels. Students test on campus to demonstrate their welding ability and earn industry-recognized credentials.
Certification Days are school or district focused and do not have to be competitive events.
