THE CREATION OF THE TITLE
Before the fall of the Nightveil Pack, no singular authority existed above the Alphas of Twilight Vale. Each pack governed its own territory independently, bound only by ancient traditions, diplomacy, and fragile balance.
The devastation caused by Raelan Ashford revealed how dangerous that lack of unified authority could become once conflict spread beyond territorial borders.
In the aftermath of the war, the surviving packs created the title of Alpha King — a position intended not to dominate the valley, but to preserve stability between the packs when diplomacy alone failed.
ROLE & AUTHORITY
The Alpha King oversees inter-pack matters that affect the stability of Twilight Vale as a whole.
His authority applies when disputes between Alphas, territorial tensions, trade conflicts, or political threats risk escalating beyond a single pack’s borders.
The Alpha King does not rule over the internal laws, traditions, hierarchy, or daily governance of individual packs.

ELECTION & SUCCESSION
A new Alpha King is chosen only after the death of the previous King or the voluntary relinquishment of his Alpha status.
The election requires unanimous agreement from all six pack Alphas.
No Alpha may vote for himself, and no bloodline automatically inherits the title.
The position is granted through perceived suitability, trust, stability, and the belief that the chosen Alpha can preserve balance between all packs.
THE CURRENT ALPHA KING
Nicholas Blackthorn is the second Alpha King in Twilight Vale’s history, inheriting a position created only after the fall of the Nightveil Pack.
Chosen unanimously by the six Alphas following the death of his predecessor, Nicholas accepted the title reluctantly, understanding the burden attached to it long before he ever desired the authority itself.
Raised during the unstable years following the war, Nicholas was shaped by both discipline and loss. The influence of his parents — the war-scarred Alpha Finnian Blackthorn and the deeply compassionate Luna Thamara Blackthorn — formed a leadership style centered around control, emotional restraint, fairness, and responsibility.
As Alpha King, Nicholas is known for calm judgment, measured authority, and unwavering consistency. Though often emotionally guarded, he is widely respected for maintaining stability without cruelty and authority without unnecessary domination.
