THE SEVEN PACKS
Twilight Vale is an ancient territory inhabited by werewolves for millennia, isolated from the outside world by the mountain range that borders the valley to the north.
Over time, the valley became divided between seven werewolf packs:
Nightfang Pack — North
Ravenshadow Pack — Northeast
Ironfang Pack — Northwest
Nightveil Pack — Central Valley
Bloodmoon Pack — South
Forestshadow Pack — Southwest
•Shadowclaw Pack — Southeast
For generations, the packs lived in isolation from humanity. Peace existed within the valley — fragile, but enduring.
THE FIRST HUMAN FATE BOND
Two hundred years ago, Selene — the Moon Goddess honored by the old traditions — chose an Alpha to share a fate bond with a human.
Such unions were exceedingly rare and deeply unsettling to older traditions across the valley. Though many packs quietly disapproved, most outwardly accepted the bond as the will of Selene and returned to their established routines.
Only one Alpha openly rejected it.
Raelan Ashford of the Nightveil Pack viewed the union as a corruption of the werewolf bloodline itself.
RAELAN ASHFORD
In Raelan Ashford’s eyes, humans were inferior beings, unworthy of equality and certainly unworthy of sharing sacred bonds with werewolves.
While presenting himself publicly as a strict traditionalist, Raelan secretly began preparing for war.
Behind diplomacy and routine pack conduct, he forged alliances with extremist Alphas beyond the valley and gathered rogue wolves from outside Twilight Vale.
Hidden Preparations
The rogue wolves gathered by Raelan were never offered sanctuary. Instead, they were subjected to confinement, brutality, and conditioning designed to awaken their feral instincts.
At the same time, small incidents slowly began to spread along the valley borders. Livestock disappeared. Patrols vanished. Human settlements reported distant howls and violent attacks beneath the cover of darkness.
No pack suspected Raelan’s involvement. The ancient territorial codes between packs discouraged interference in matters considered internal affairs, allowing suspicion and fear to spread unnoticed.

THE FERAL WAR
For years, Raelan tested human defenses through carefully controlled attacks, always retreating before organized retaliation became possible.
By the time he unleashed his fully prepared feral army, humanity had already endured years of harassment and destabilization.
The war that followed lasted nearly five years.
Entire villages near the valley borders fell within weeks. In response, the remaining five packs formed a fragile alliance with humanity against Raelan and the Nightveil Pack.
The Fall of Nightveil
The allied forces ultimately halted Raelan’s advance, though the cost was devastating for both humans and werewolves alike.
Human retaliation grew increasingly brutal as modern weaponry was turned against the Nightveil territory itself, reducing much of the central valley to ruin.
The few innocent survivors of the Nightveil Pack who escaped the destruction were taken in by the remaining packs and integrated into their territories to prevent further bloodshed and retaliation.
THE NEW ORDER
Peace eventually returned to Twilight Vale, though it was far weaker than the fragile harmony that had once existed before the war.
To prevent another conflict of such scale, the surviving Alphas established a governing Council composed of representatives from the six remaining packs and elected the first Alpha King.
The Council oversees Neutral Zone affairs and human relations, while the Alpha King maintains internal order between the packs themselves.
The former territory of the Nightveil Pack was officially declared a Neutral Zone and rebuilt as shared ground between humans and werewolves — a symbol of peace forged from the ruins of war.
