2021 Research

I studied 7 different urban/suburban locations. The table shows results from all 7 locations with the results from the Fred Funk Garden bolded for comparison.

Here are the key takeaways from the report:

1) There were 26 total pollinator visits in the Fred Funk Garden 200 square meter study area. 5 of these visits were from southeastern blueberry bees. Overall, the Fred Funk Garden had the lowest number of pollinator visits as compared with the other locations included in the study (table).

2) There were ten different groups of pollinators observed in the Fred Funk Garden, and southeastern blueberry bees were the most common flower visitor (pie chart).

3) Pollinators visited Spanish Needle more than any other plant in the Fred Funk Garden closely followed by pentas and red salvia (bar chart).

I wanted to share with you the plant and pollinator reports I generated from my research in the butterfly gardens at the Lady Lake 7th Day Adventist Church. Thank you again for cooperating with this research, and I hope that you find the attached information interesting! I also hope that you are able to share the information with your butterfly group.

I would like to use your groups lovely gardens for this research again at the beginning of next year. I will be in touch as we get closer to that time.

All the best,

Sarah
