Unlike at Tirso de Molina, I was not the main English teacher at Antonio Machado. My role at Antonio Machado was to be a teaching assistant to the school's Bilingual Coordinator, Raquel, who is also the main English teacher responsible for all English curriculum in the school. Some schools, like Tirso de Molina, are not bilingual schools, so they did not have a Bilingual Coordinator for the auxiliares like me to assist. However, at this school, I was Raquel's right-hand girl for all speaking-related content in English class. When each class learned new vocabulary or needed to hear the correct pronunciation of an Engilsh word by a native speaker herself, they turned to me. I helped coordinate speaking activities, games, and even tested the students on their speaking abilities for the speaking portions of their English exams. Although daunting to some students, testing their conversation skills with me was crucial for advancement in their bilingual education.
