Why the Tapatoru (Triangle) pattern?
The tapatoru pattern means "a place where people or events meet." It reminds us that important changes happen at these meeting points. Tukutuku can be designed with more than one pattern; for example, the pātiki (flounder), the poutama (staircase) and the tapatoru (triangle) can all be in one pattern.
