Field surveys of Easternmost Matano fault, Central Sulawesi
Date: 17 March-2 April 2021
Location: Bungku Timur Regency, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia
The Matano fault is a major active fault located in Sulawesi. This fault is the continuation of the Palu-Koro fault (Fig. 1). Our survey was limited to the easternmost part of the Matano fault. We conducted the electrical resistivity and ground-penetrating radar profiling to reveal its subsurface characteristics (Figs. 2a-d). Also, the paleoseismic trench at Ululere village was excavated where the fault trace was detected as a fault scarp (Fig. 2e).
