Skip’s encouragements

Skip to Lead : “Good bowl ! You need a bit more grass and a bit more weight”.

Skip to Third : “You need to change your hand and put on a foot !”

Skip to Third : “Which is the danger bowl ?

Third to Skip : “The one your holding!”

Guidance:

All players at the head should stand still, behind and to the side.

Leads should bowl promptly, to their preferred length (or what the skip requires), on their choice of hand.

Seconds can play as the lead, but may get more requests from the skip.

Thirds should be adaptable and play to their own, or skips', plan.

Skips should be positive and encouraging to their players, giving advice on things that can't be seen from the mat. Avoiding stating the obvious is always preferred.

Information should be conveyed fron the head with speed and accuracy, without disturbing the oppositions bowl. Hand signals may be preferable, especially for those hard of hearing. Distances are how far in front of the jack, not the actual distance! Skips, especially, need to know how many up or down they are!
