Club Rules
TROWBRIDGE TOWN BOWLS CLUB RULES
These rules may only be amended in accordance with section 5 of the club constitution.
THE GREEN.
The green will be open for the season from April to the end of September between the hours of 1100 and 2100 daily. The exact dates to be confirmed each year by the Management Committee.
CLUB HOUSE OPENING.
The club house will be open during the year at times which will be subject to the discretion of the Management Committee.
BAR - PERMITTED HOURS.
The permitted hours during which intoxicating liquors may be sold to members for consumption on the premises shall be in accordance with the conditions of the licence.
PERSONAL POSSESSIONS.
The Management Committee do not accept any responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, any property left on Club premises, or its surrounds, at any time.
DRESS CODE ON THE GREEN.
Club shirts must be worn when representing the Club, together with grey or white below the waist; this will be specified on the team sheet. Regulation Bowling shoes with smooth flat soles must be changed into and worn at all times on the green.
MEN: DURING MATCH PLAY
Grey or white regulation trousers or Bowls England approved shorts.
LADIES: DURING MATCH PLAY
Grey or white regulation trousers, culottes, crops or Bowls England approved shorts. Skirts must be regulation pattern.
GENERAL: DURING MATCH PLAY
Jackets: - Predominantly white.
Socks: - White or grey as appropriate.
Hats – Predominately white.
Rain wear – Predominately white.
Fleeces, jumpers or cardigans if worn, should be predominately white.
Regulation bowling shoes, with smooth flat soles must be changed into and worn at all times on the green.
Members must remain in Club colours during the after match meal, raffle and speeches. White trousers may be exchanged for grey, but shirts must remain.
BOOKING OF RINKS.
Rinks may be booked on a first come, first served basis. However, priority will be given to National or County competitions, League matches and then Club competitions.
ROLL-UPS.
Provided a rink is available, one or more players may enter the green and commence play. If there isn’t a vacant rink available, additional players may join others using rinks for roll-ups until such rinks are complete.
VISITORS.
TTBC must make two rinks available for use by the general public if so required.
A member may invite a guest(s) to the club for a roll-up for up to four times a year providing that:
a. The guest(s) is/are defined as
(i) currently being a member of a bowls club or
(ii) has been a member of a bowls club or
(iii) is a potential new member of the club.
b. To comply with insurance requirements, the member and guest(s) must enter their details in the Visitor’s Book and sign accordingly.
c. The accompanying member will be responsible for the conduct of the guest(s) at all times.
A person attending the club to 'try out’ the game of bowls will be deemed to be a 'temporary member’ upon signing the visitors book and must be supervised by a club member at all times.
RINK FEES AND HIRE OF BOWLS AND EQUIPMENT.
Visitors may use the club bowls and equipment. However, they may be required to pay a fee, the amount of which shall be determined by the Management Committee.
NON PLAYING GUESTS.
Members of the club shall be allowed to introduce non playing guest to the club at any time subject to the following:
a. Introduction of guests shall not be limited to a particular number on any occasion but members are asked to use their discretion as 11.b applies.
b. The accompanying member will be responsible for their guest(s) conduct at all times.
c. former members who have been expelled or those who maybe under suspension shall not be allowed access to the clubhouse.
SELECTION FOR TEAMS AND MATCHES
a. Members selected to play but are unable to play, shall notify the team Captain of the day as soon as possible.
b. Members selected for matches shall report their presence, upon arrival, to the team Captain of the day. Players should always aim to arrive no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled starting time.
c. In the event of a team member failing to report within 10 minutes of the start time the reserve may be invited to play.
d. Members will not have the right to refuse to play with, or, against another bowler. If they do refuse, the reserve will be asked to take their place.
e. Members will be expected to play in the position, and for the individual skip, allocated by the Captain of the day.
f. Transport may be arranged for away matches. It is the member’s responsibility to confirm by making contact with the designated driver.
g. No player shall render himself/herself unfit through alcohol or drugs on or off the bowling green. Members transporting other members or spectators in their cars are expected to keep alcohol consumption to a minimum and to remain well below the legal limit for driving.
h. Members may not act, on or off the bowling green, in any way that may be described as discriminatory due to race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.
i. Members are expected to comply with the accepted Etiquette laid out in the TTBC Fixture and Membership List when playing all matches.
SMOKING
Smoking by members or guest’s is banned on the green and surrounds. Smoking is only permitted in the three corners furthest from the Pavilion.
SECURITY
It is important that the building is properly locked when vacated and this responsibility rests with every member. The last person to vacate the building must ensure that it is properly secured.
However, if you find the building unlocked, make sure the building is empty, then secure it properly when you leave.
If a stranger enters the building whilst you are there, challenge them, do not assume that they have a right to be there.
The combination lock number will be changed annually and members are asked not to divulge the number.
CLUB EQUIPMENT
Club equipment should be returned to its correct place after use and members are asked to ensure that the equipment store is locked.
Equipment and Club bowls should not be removed from the premises without prior consent from a Management Committee member.
GENERAL
Notwithstanding any of the provisions in the rules (above), the Club follows Bowls England’s guidance for the following items of legislation:
Anti-Doping
Children and Vulnerable Adults
Discrimination, Equal Opportunities and Human Rights
Health & Safety
Insurance and Indemnity
Misconduct, Suspension and Exclusion of Members.
CATERING
Prior to the commencement of the season, a list of all home fixtures will be published and displayed on the club notice board. All club members are required to place their names at least twice on the list. This enables the club to provide hospitality for visiting and home team players.
The Management Committee will monitor the list and remind members of their responsibility to assist in the provision of hospitality. Any names not on the list by 1st May, will then be inserted and the member informed.
