Once you finish your Life Scout Board of Review, you can start working towards your Eagle Scout Project.
For requirement five, you must download the Eagle Scout Workbook (Follow the instructions on the link or below).
First, you must download Adobe Reader 9 or later on your computer (Click on Download Acrobat Reader)
Second, you must download the PDF onto your computer.
Third, you must open the PDF in Adobe Reader 9 or later.
There are three steps to achieving Eagle: the Project Proposal, the Project Plan, and the Project Report
FIND AN EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT
*Note: An Eagle Project must be for a religious institution, school, community organization or a business’ operation (non-profit) provided as community service
From the time you begin looking for a project to completion, you should be keeping track of time in a log book. Document all the hours you worked towards the project (include assignment, description, date, and hour(s)). In addition, each entry should include other volunteers'/ beneficiary's name(s) and the time they volunteered towards the project. Time includes such things as research, making phone calls, participating in meetings, completing the Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook.
PROJECT PROPOSAL
The project proposal must be approved by the organization benefiting from the effort, your unit leader, and unit committee, and the council or district before you start.
When you are ready to have your Eagle Scout Service Project Proposal Signed, you will go to The Orange Frontier Roundtable Meeting. It is held at 7:30 pm on the second Thursday of the month. Show up early and sign in on the clipboard in the hallway. Usually someone from Troop 658 goes to these meetings.
For Project Approval, you will need:
Two completed copies of your proposal
Necessary signatures from beneficiary and your troop
Bring your Eagle Coach if possible.
Also, bring the Age Guidelines for Tool Use and Work at Elevations or Excavations to know the proper use of tools for any age of volunteers during your Eagle Project.
For Fundraising permit*, you will need:
Completed fundraising form found in your Eagle Workbook.
Have other required signatures.
Have already had your project approved
*Note: You will only need permit if you plan to raise more than $1,000 in your fundraiser. You can have unlimited donations from your immediate circle such as family, friends, and troop. Fundraisers and donations are two separate items. ALL LEFTOVER MONEY, REGARDLESS OF THE SOURCE, GOES TO THE BENEFICIARY.
PROJECT PLAN
"Though the project plan is a tool for your use, and is not approved or signed, it is important in helping to show you have done the required planning and development. You should take the project plan with you to your Eagle Scout board of review. Note that you are not required to provide more details than are necessary for the accomplishment of your project. A Scout who is prepared will complete the project plan, and then review it with the designated project coach before carrying out the project. You should also show your project plan to your beneficiary prior to carrying out your project. This will help ensure your plans agree with the beneficiary's expectations. Remember, the project beneficiary has the authority to require and approve a project plan." -BSA
PROJECT REPORT
"This report is to be prepared after your service project has been concluded. It is not necessary to provide lengthy answers. Be prepared to discuss your project and this report at your board of review." -BSA
AFTER YOU FINISH YOUR PROJECT REPORT, FILL OUT THE EAGLE SCOUT RANK APPLICATION
Get your reference letters
Eagle Scout Reference Letter (see Eagle Scout Rank Application Requirement #2). Up to 6 letters of recommendations. Here is how the reference letters are handled. First, identify a Parent, a teacher, a religious leader, and two others… That makes 5 total. Second, Print out 5 copies of the reference letter listed above. Third, get 5 envelopes and put stamps on them. Fourth, Put Rudy’s address on the envelopes: Mr. Rudy Solorzano - Eagle Reference Letter 7775 La Costa Circle, Buena Park, CA 90620. Fifth, Fill out EVERYTHING on the 5 copies of the reference letter that you can...The date, your name, your phone number and Rudy's info on the first page. The date, your name, your phone number and your Troop number on the second page. The reference person will fill in the rest. Sixth, stuff the papers into the envelopes (do not seal) and hand them to your references to fill out and mail to Rudy. Seventh, make sure you have the name, address, telephone and email of each of your references. That info goes into section 2 of the EAGLE APPLICATION. Eight…thats it. The requirement is for you to REQUEST the reference (hand form and SASE to person). You are not required to follow up on the reference in any way.
EAGLE APPLICATION TURN IN
Before you turn in your Eagle Scout Rank Application, you will have to go to or call the Orange County Council Service Center, located at 1211 E. Dyer Road, Santa Ana, CA 92705 (714) 546-4990. You will request your “Advancement History” at the front desk or the phone during regular business hours. This is what you will use to fill out your Eagle Scout Rank Application.
Eagle Scout Rank Application - Requirement # 7 - You will need to write a Statement of Ambitions and Life Purpose, and a listing of positions held in your religious institution, school, camp, community, or other organizations, during which you demonstrated leadership skills. Include honors and awards received during this service. (This is typed up on a Word document).
For Eagle application turn in, you will need:
