Triptych is an independently published journal looking for fiction rooted in the strange, the mythic, and the gothic. We seek work that unsettles gently: stories built from memory, ritual, and the lingering shadows of worlds that might have been. On May 4th, 2026, the UMass Boston Archives reached out to us about securing a copy of Issue #1 for preservation in the Special Collections wing.
Carston is a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where his fiction has been archived in his university Special Collections for contributions to the university’s literary community. He is the recipient of a 2025 and a 2026 Brian Rattigan Scholarship in Creative Writing. Recently, some of his fiction has been published in HalfandOne, and his poetry is soon to be published with Jackdaw Press. As a teenager, he started his adventures with writing as a video game journalist.
I acquired this abandoned news paper stand on Campus in Spring of 2026 after it had been sitting there since 2022 forgotten about by the student paper. Now I use it to distribute remaining hard copies of Issue #1, and future issues for free to the student body.
Triptych is an independent, small-scale project created out of a love for weird, uncanny work, and a sense of the New England Gothic. In November of 2025, a Chillsubs and Duotrope account were made which linked back to this Google Site and a Google Form, publishing our Issue #1 in April of 2026. 9 copies were left on campus in our distribution space, as well as several flyers placed around the English department to advertise for Issue #2. By the end of the first 48 hours, only 3 copies remained.
