Do You Distribute Physical Copies?

Yes. Triptych is printed in very limited quantities and placed for free in select Little Free Libraries, actual libraries, and graduate-lounge shelves throughout Boston. 

Because our print runs are small, we cannot always guarantee contributor copies at this time, especially for international contributors on the other side of the Atlantic or Pacific, but do make an effort to do so where funding allows and this is something we clearly communicate before formally accepting a submitted story.

However that being said, a full digital edition of each issue will always be available on our website, and your status as a contributor will always be noted in our Archives page. 

We have also recently acquired control of a small newspaper stand on campus from where we can distribute hard copies, for free, to passers by. 

Furthermore, copies not taken from our campus distribution space are donated and hand delivered to various libraries and archives in the Massachusetts area. Read more about this here.

What Is Triptych?

Triptych is a newly launched small run publication of speculative fiction. It has, as of July 2026, released its second journal issue. It is an independent journal run by graduate students on our college campus, but is not a campus organization, or otherwise funded by that campus.

How Much Can I Submit?

Do You Accept Simultaneous Submissions?

Yes, but please let us know as quickly as possible if you are accepted elsewhere and intend to publish with them instead. 

If your work is accepted by Triptych and you confirm that you intend to publish it with us, we ask that you promptly withdraw the piece from consideration elsewhere. 

Failure to do so will result in our rescinding our offer of publication. Keeping an accepted piece under consideration elsewhere can create unnecessary rights complications between publications and, particularly once an issue has entered print production, may result in significant financial losses for our small, self-funded magazine.

What rights does Triptych take?

We ask for first serial rights. All rights revert back to the author after publication; we also request the nonexclusive right to archive the work on our website, and in print issues you are selected to appear in. 

When will I hear back?

We aim to respond within 4–8 weeks. As a one-editor journal, response times may vary, but we will always respond. 

Is There A Submission Fee?

No, we do not currently charge a submission fee. 

Do you pay contributors?

At this time, we are unable to offer payment. Triptych is an unfunded passion project.
