The summer after Junior year, June 30th 2021, I became the Marketing Intern at Habitat for Humanity Waukesha County for the summer of 2021 and throughout the first semester of my senior year. Habitat for Humanity builds affordable housing for families who are unable to purchase them the traditional way. Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone deserves a stable and affordable home.

The photo to the left is a picture of me working on one of our educational Instagram social media posts. At the start of my internship, I came up with the idea of making educational posts for our Instagram about Affordable housing. I thought that if we could show people how important affordable housing is, they might be more likely to want to help and support our mission. My first social media post was called "Are you aware of how important affordable housing is in Waukesha County". In that post, I shared statistics like how the typical value of a home in Waukesha County is $277,851 and how a family would need to earn 52,807 per year, with a monthly payment of $1,232 in order to afford a home of that cost. In all of my posts, I made a slide at the end titled "How can I help?". In this slide, I explained how our followers could volunteer with us and support us. This allowed us to gain the help that we needed and get our name out there.

At Habitat for Humanity, wall raising is where we raise the first of the 4 exterior walls of a home. On July 8th I got to visit one of our newest construction sites to help our construction volunteers raise the first wall, as you can see in the photo attached. This experience helped me get an idea of what it is like to volunteer on a building site. This helped me spread the word to our followers on our social media platforms about what it looks like to volunteer with us.

In the photo attached, I am putting together envelopes containing letters to be mailed to local businesses requesting auction item donations. For this task, I needed to learn how to use a new mailing program/site to print out each letter with the correct company mentioned.
