Trinity Church Sissinghurst
The United Benefice of Sissinghurst with Frittenden
Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby preached at Trinity Sissinghurst and St Mary's Frittenden.
We had the most remarkable surprise on Sunday 21st November, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby came to preach and administer Holy Communion at Trinity Church Sissinghurst at our traditional 8.30am service. We were only given notice a few days beforehand and his explicit wish was to see a normal parish service with the normal congregation, so there was no advance publicity.
He gave a most inspiring sermon on “Truth”. You can download the Sissinghurst service here. We are enormously grateful to Justin for coming to see us. Pictured with Archbishop Justin is our Rev Pete Deaves who jointly led the service,
He also visited and preached afterwards at our sister benefice church St Mary's Frittenden at their 10.00am service.
