Nicholas Nguyen, BS student                                                                                                        

Undergraduate student, UVA School of Engineering & Applied Sciences 

Nicholas is a second-year student majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Bioinformatics. He is familiar with Java, C++, and Python. He joined the Trinh lab in October 2023 as a research volunteer, working closely with Kevin Qiu on bioinformatics projects to deepen his knowledge and understanding of biology and coding. In addition to his academic pursuits, Nicholas is an active member of Army ROTC, where he undergoes rigorous and challenging training with the aspiration to one day serve and protect the United States. Nicholas's favorite quote, from Doctor Who, is "We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one." Nicholas has 12 years of experience playing the piano.

Accomplishments during training in Trinh lab

• 2025. Co-authored a research manuscript on Bioarchive and under revision for a high-profile journal

• 2025. Co-author poster presentation on small molecules targeting chemo-resistant cells at the annual UVA Undergraduate Research Symposium.  

• 2024. Co-authored a research paper published in Epigenetics & Chromatin and featured by ScienceCast
