PLAIN CLOTHING REGULATIONS
PLAIN CLOTHING REGULATIONS
Hats/Helmets
Police branding must be visible at all times to ensure that you are clearly police. Failure to have that is RDM regardless if the police have initiation or not. Your hat must be clearly marked with plain clothing, as well as your vest. Your hair must not cover the police hat. The marked hat with plain clothes must be the black/dark blue hat, with the exception of TRIDENT Command (who may use CID hats) and CTSFO (who may use helmets). Please be aware that you cannot wear helmets with plain clothes unless you are a member of SCO-19 Command or you are a CTSFO Operational Senior Manager (OSM). Helmet 306 is authorised for CTSFO members. You must not use helmets with any other smart attire.
Glasses
Glasses must remain clear and professional. For example, you cannot wear starred glasses with USA Flags. Please use your brain and do not push the boundary.
Ear Accessories
Professional earpieces and ear rings are permitted. Please note that airpods are not authorised, as well as large hanging earrings such as playing cards etc.
Mask
You are only allowed to wear a mask if you are using plain clothes while clocked on TRIDENT, CTSFO, TXD, TXP, and CID - Your mask must remain black unless you are CTSFO who wear grey.
Shirts/Jackets
When wearing plain clothes, you must wear suitable plain colours. Bright colours such as neon pink, salmon pink, etc. are not permitted, however plain white is permitted. Most patterns and logos are also not allowed, including camo and stripes. Some patterns, such as clear checkered is allowed, but patterns such as tie dye are not allowed. Non-clear or diagonal checkered is not allowed - With that said if you are generally not sure and think it might be allowed feel free to ask in the respected clothing auth channel and ask TRIDENT Command (Taking the piss and pushing your luck WILL result in a temporarily ban of using plain clothes this can be authorised by TRIDENT Command or Gold Command).
As an individual wearing hoodies, you are permitted only permitted to wear specific colours: black, white, dark blue and grey hoodies. You must ensure that your police markings on the front and back of your vest and hat are visible at all times. The college of policing vest may not be used with plain clothing. This vest can come under RDM as it can be clear if you are close up but if you’re far away civilians cannot tell you are police. Brands may not be worn under any circumstances. This includes any form of fragging, like outfits such as Pink Manor. If your vest covers the brand, it is permitted as long as the branding is not visible. Vests, Crop tops, etc are also not allowed. Varsity style jackers are not permitted.
Arms/Torso
You may wear suitable gloves, including surgical gloves, but any gauntlets will not be allowed to be worn. Additionally, your outfit may not have holes in due to the arms/torso not fitting the shirt/jacket. Use your brain!
Legs
Joggers and Jeans are fine to be worn as plain clothing; however, any form of shorts is not allowed. They must be plain and must cover your entire body even if the logo is little it will not be permitted. Under no circumstances should any of your rear end be exposed. Sagging pants are not permitted.
Shoes
Shoes must at all times remain professional, with common sense being utilised. For example, air forces would be permitted; however, bright-coloured shoes are not to be worn; white is allowed, however.
Mix and Match Plain Clothing
Mixing and matching plain clothing is permitted for Special Constables, SCO-19 and Gold Command. It must be clear that you are a police officer; if it is not clear, then you risk being banned for RDM. A divisional vest and a marked hat are mandatory with mix-and-match clothing. The college of policing vest may not be used with plain clothing. This vest can come under RDM as it can be clear if you are close up but if you’re far away civilians cannot tell you are police.
How to get authorisation
To get authorisation, you must be granted plain clothing as a perk or reward of your position. As plain clothing is a TRIDENT Perk, TRIDENT Command must authorise any form of plain clothing, including mixing and matching divisional outfits with plain clothing. You must send a photo of the front and back of the outfit at a neutral level so that TRIDENT Command may authorise the fit. Please be aware that the plain clothing regulations above may not be overwritten. If you do not adhere to these regulations, you can receive punishments and future blacklists from plainclothes. TRIDENT Command and Gold Command have the final say in what clothing you can and cannot wear, and may update these regulations to reflect ongoing changes or clarifications within the police service.
