Diversity and Inclusion
When it comes to diversity in a classroom it is important to embrace it! Every individual is unique and has different ideas, skills, and knowledge to bring to the table. Having diversity will make the teacher take a more multi-model approach which gives students more of a chance to click with some part of the lesson. Every individual is unique and because of this is is important to see where your students are coming from culturally, academically, and socially to be able to meet them where they are at and have them feel welcomed in your class. Utilize and embrace the beauty within each unique child.
Inclusion is a key part of school for children. Students are not going to feel motivated to work, grow, or develop if they do not feel like they belong. Every human being has this desire to belong somewhere. School is one of the first places students began to figure themselves out and figure out where they belong. It is important that teachers help students embrace who they are and offer support along this journey because it is a long and scary one! Schools need to have opportunities that allow for students to feel wanted an included such as Alan B. Shepard did for those of special needs. This is a photo of the special olympics team where many of the student body would come and cheer on the competing teams. It was a spot light for students of special needs which allowed them to feel apart of the school.
