Poor agricultural performance hinders the growth of local economies and limits the resources available to promote growth. Emerging local demands for alternative products requires the Caribbean to discuss strategies to increase domestic food product demands and ways to link local food processing industries to facilitate local products to market. This segment will identify institutions & experts to discuss the selected plants within the context of science, economics and industry. Local Institutions, university and corporate partners will discuss changing market demands, the need for the regional agricultural industry to fuel an agriculture industry, research and local strategies that facilitate regional climate resiliency, food security and methods that move us closer to a secure and sustainable food system.
A conversation with agriculture experts, and local NGOs engaged in regional partnerships with a focus on strategies:
to promote a regional agricultural industry
to develop value-added products and downstream production towards achieving climate resiliency & food security
to facilitate innovative tree planting efforts and partnerships to grow an industry in coconut, coffee, moringa, breadfruit, roots and tubers
