Role of Government

Regional Government & Ministers Roundtable

A Response to Caribbean Tree Planting Project (CTPP) Call to Action & Commitments to Achieving National Targets

Planting trees support carbon sequestration which can enable a carbon market mechanism for the region and contribute to regional financial resiliency. With a regional strategy, planting trees can also facilitate food security, climate change adaptation, mitigation, public health and sustainable livelihood solutions. It is our future investment, and our regional leadership is essential to strengthen our collective efforts. Caribbean Philanthropic Alliance requests all Caribbean governments to recognize a Regional Caribbean Tree Planting Week. This designated week will provide the opportunity for everyone in the Caribbean to take an active role in restoring and protecting our environment by planting trees and other related activities.
