Kripa Ram Gaur was the military commander of Bir Singh Deo. He was the son of a brave soldier Jadau Gaur who also served the Orchha ruler. Keshav Das, a contemporary poet of Bir Singh Deo and his predecessors, writes very highly about Kripa Ram. He writes that the Raja handed over the responsibility of the safety of the state in the hands of Kripa Ram. He had commanded respect as a brave soldier among the people of Bundelkhand. Seeing his qualities Bir Singh Deo appointed him as the Senapati. He accompanied Bir Singh Deo in his wars and campaigns against the enemies. The residence of the military commander was located near the chhatris of the Bundela rulers. Though it is in complete ruins except the entrance, from the gate and the remains one can conjecture about its huge size. The entrance gate is quite eloquent of the good times the residence had witnessed. (Building Traditions In Bundelkhand)
