As a way to recap those discoveries from the “discovery mural” and from the topics worked, they will have to create a quiz. It will consist of a quiz with the basic aspects to bear in mind before traveling to the country. Every group of students will have assigned two topics from the mural and the content worked. For each one, they can create more than one question, it is their own decision. They will have to work with students from the other country to clarify information and to create the questions. Then, they will have to write the questions about the same topic but addressed to Spanish and to Chinese people.
Therefore, they are meant to follow the following steps during this session:
1) Brainstorming of the main sub-ideas appeared throughout the project. (e.g. transportation topic→ tickets).
2) Discuss the ideas posted on the “discovery mural”.
3) Distribution of topics/sub-topics. Would be interesting to have two per group from both the guide (worked topics) and the “discovery mural”.
4) Preparation for the telecollaboration (group work): comparisons between countries working on conditional with a support sheet + learning how to formulate questions.
They have the aim to create the final questions for the quiz and they will have to create the version for each country (address the quiz to a country).
Firstly, they will share ideas and look for clarifications. Secondly, they will plan the questions with the scaffolding created in class and agree on them. Finally, they will have to say goodbye do their telecollaboration partners. The way to do this, will be simple but very interesting. Each of them will have to say one thing they like and makes them special about each of the members of the group.
They will create the quiz all together. The teacher will project the screen and they will go creating the quiz while sharing the questions and answers. The teacher will ask for an explanation that they will write in the quiz so that it pops up when answering. They will add the quiz to the guide so that everyone can check their knowledge about the country before going there. Finally, students will answer the quiz individually to be aware of the learnings done and what they have still not clear. It will also be a tool to assess students using their own tool.
Therefore, they are meant to follow the following steps during this session:
1) Share all the group questions with justifications and reshaping if needed.
2) While sharing questions they create the quiz. The teacher projects the screen and as students go talking she or a student can write the questions.
3) Add the quiz in the guide.
4) Students answer the quiz.
As it is the last session, there will not be a post-class task if there is no extension of the project planned by the teacher.
Moreover, the teacher will give the opportunity to students to finish the reflection diary if they have not already finished.
