The Client's Problem:
The client was struggling with inconsistent sales results and a lack of control over their sales numbers. They needed to move beyond guesswork and achieve Sales Clarity and Control. Their key challenges included:
Inability to identify top and bottom-performing salespeople and understand their true value (e.g., who was bringing in new clients versus just retaining old ones).
Stagnant sales in certain branches with no clear explanation.
Uncertainty about which sales channels were most effective and whether key processes like customer follow-ups were impacting revenue.
The need to see hidden trends in the data to make informed decisions.
2. The Problems We Solved:
We used Power BI and DAX to transform raw sales data into a powerful, actionable dashboard that delivered the following key insights:
Salesperson Performance: We created visuals to identify the top and lowest performing salespeople and broke down their revenue to show how much came from new customers versus existing customers.
Channel and Location Analysis: We identified the top-performing sales channel (Online) and created a visual to link location performance to customer feedback, explaining the "why" behind underperforming branches.
Process Effectiveness: We created a key visual that showed that the majority of revenue came from deals with a follow-up, confirming the value of that process.
Business Trends: We created a line chart to clearly show monthly sales trends and identify the peak sales month for better planning.
3. The Tools We Used:
Power BI: For data modeling, cleaning in Power Query (e.g., creating a Month column), creating advanced DAX measures, and building the final dashboard.
MySQL Workbench: For the initial data quality check to ensure there were no discrepancies in the data before analysis.
4. Our Suggestions to the Client:
Based on the dashboard's insights, we provided the following actionable suggestions to achieve Sales Clarity and Control:
Leverage Top Channels: Investigate and replicate the strategies used in the top-performing sales channel (Online) across other channels.
Address Feedback: Focus on improving customer satisfaction in underperforming locations to boost revenue.
Optimize Sales Process: Emphasize the importance of timely follow-ups to increase sales conversions across the team.
