The Client's Problem:
The client was struggling with a lack of clarity and control over their company's finances. They were unable to easily:
Track their overall cash flow, expenses, and profitability.
Identify which specific business branches were performing well and which were consistently losing money.
Understand where the majority of their money was being spent to find opportunities for cost reduction.
2. The Problems We Solved:
We transformed raw financial data into a clear, intuitive dashboard that provides a complete overview of the company's financial health. We delivered the following key insights:
Financial Health: We created core metrics to track Total Gross Cashflow, Total Expenses (Gross), and Net Cash Flow (Profit/Loss).
Branch Performance: We clearly identified and visualized 30 Profitable Branches and 70 Losing Branches along with the total loss from those underperforming locations.
Expense Analysis: We broke down total expenses to highlight the Category with Largest Individual Expense (Miscellaneous) and provided a visual of spending trends over time.
Profitability: We provided a Profit Margin KPI to give the client a single, critical number to measure their business's efficiency.
3. The Tools We Used:
Power BI: For data modeling, calculation with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), and building the interactive dashboard.
Excel (or similar spreadsheet): As the likely source of the raw financial data.
4. Our Suggestions to the Client:
Based on the dashboard insights, we provided the following actionable suggestions:
Action on Losing Branches: Focus efforts on the 70 losing branches to understand the root cause of their losses.
Cost Control: Investigate the Category with Largest Individual Expense to find cost-saving opportunities within that area.
Strategic Planning: Use the Total Expenses (Gross) by Date chart to better forecast spending and align with cash flow trends.
