The Client's Problem:
The client was seeking a data-driven approach to evaluate and improve their workforce's performance. They were challenged with:
A lack of clear, quantifiable metrics to track employee and departmental performance.
Inability to easily identify top-performing departments and individuals versus those who were underperforming.
A vague understanding of the factors impacting employee achievement, such as absenteeism.
The need for a visual way to see the performance landscape of their 50 employees and six departments.
2. The Problems We Solved:
We developed an insightful dashboard that provides a comprehensive view of employee performance, addressing the client's key concerns:
Performance Metrics: We created KPIs to track Achievement Percentage, Performance Rating Score, and Total Employee.
Top Performers: We clearly identified the Operations department as having the Highest Achievement % and Marketing as having the Best Performance Rating.
Underperformance Tracking: We provided a count of 9 employees with poor ratings and listed their names, giving the client a clear starting point for intervention.
Impact Analysis: We included a scatter plot to visualize the Impact of Absenteeism on Achievement, helping to uncover a potential correlation between days absent and performance.
3. The Tools We Used:
Power BI: For data modeling, building a comprehensive set of KPIs, and creating the interactive visuals to track employee performance.
Excel (or similar spreadsheet): As the likely source of the raw employee data.
4. Our Suggestions to the Client:
Based on the dashboard's insights, we provided the following actionable suggestions:
Recognize and Reward: Acknowledge and reward top-performing departments like Marketing and Operations to encourage continued success.
Targeted Intervention: Focus on the 9 employees with a poor rating to understand the root causes of their performance issues and provide targeted support or training.
Improve Attendance: Investigate the relationship between absenteeism and performance to implement policies that can improve attendance and, in turn, boost overall achievement.
