Sveti Sava Primary School in Kikinda has over 50-year-old tradition. It was founded and began working in 1960 as Moša Pijade Primary School. The school got its present name in December 1994.
For many years, our school has been the largest primary school in the municipality of Kikinda.
Our school is one of two in Kikinda offering bilingual education, in Serbian and Hungarian. Our students are also given the opportunity to study Roma language with elements of national culture. In addition, they also study English and German as compulsory subjects and Nature watchers, From toys to computers and ICT as optional subjects.
In order to raise the level of efficiency of educational work and to improve the culture of living, our school cooperates with our students' parents, other schools, sports clubs and other organizations and institutions. This cooperation is mostly achieved through numerous cultural and artistic activities, including the visits to the theatre, museum, library, art galleries and Kikinda Cultural Centre.
Our teachers, a pedagogue and a psychologist have joined a number of activities and projects aimed at professional development. They have improved internal capacities through various teacher training courses. Our teachers attend seminars or organise lectures and workshops in the Regional Centre for Professional Development in Kikinda.
We also try to raise the environmental awareness of our students, their parents and teachers through a variety of environmental activities, teaching them to care for the environment.
The best indicators of our school's good work are the numerous awards in competitions and contests at home and abroad, as well as our students' excellent results in the final exam. We would like to single out the most important ones: a prestigious award 'Dr Đorđe Natošević' as the most successful educational institution in Vojvodina in 2012/2013 school year, several acknowledgements of the Centre for Development and Application of Science and Technology for special contribution in the field of professional development of teachers in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, the Municipality of Kikinda Annual Award for 2013 for the best team, the first prize in the regional project 'Energy is all around us' in 2013 and the Plaque of the Serbian Red Cross for the humane environment in 2011 and 2013.
