History

THE BEGINNING

The North Pacific Vision was the brainchild of Republica Guilleana who would host the first edition on May the 17th in 2020, the day after the scheduled Eurovision 2020 Final (cancelled due to Covid-19).

This edition would have 8 participants - the most of any edition up to that point! :D; Republica Guilleana, Railroad Crossing, Santamar, Greatly, The Jovannic, Neo-Ottomania, Homyland, and Skaraborg. Skaraborg would take home the first ever win, all participants unknowing of the future success of the competition.

EARLY DAYS

TNPV 2 would be hosted by Skaraborg, following the Eurovision precedent of the winner hosting the next edition. Santamar would win with 118 points, the first win with over one hundred points.

Santamar would be the host nation for the third edition, the eventual winner would be Kartujia - the first of their fourth wins.

ERA OF IHESE AND KARTUJIA

TNPV 7 would be Republica Guilleana's second time hosting, and would be won by Ihese - the first of their eight. Ihese would host one of the most remembered editions in TNPV history, TNPV 8, serving as an inflection point in the history of the competition.

TNPV 8 would break ground in multiple records, becoming the first edition to include Semi-Finals, to be primarily broadcasted in a factbook (previous editions were based primarily on the RMB), and having a record number of contestants - an all time high of 52. Kartujia would win with a record number of points - 142! The record-breaking number of contestants and points won standing for many editions.

Kartujia would host and win TNPV 9, becoming the first contestant in the contest's history to win two editions in a row.

GOING STRONG

Ethnon would win TNPV 14, their first ever win. Their hosting of TNPV 15 bringing a completely novel style, centred around a Roman-Egyptian theme and recurring hosts Marcus Aurelius and Cleopatra. Despite Cleo's hungry crocodiles, only two executions would be carried out. 🐊

The edition would be won by El Fiji Grande.

TURBULENCE AHEAD

El Fiji Grande would decline to host the next edition, with Katuda stepping in. Mon Island would win and begin their hosting of TNPV 17.

However before the release of the finals gala, they would resign, the competition erupting into chaos.

Ihese and Cokoland would step in as dual alternative hosts, recovering the votes and hosting the gala - Tringapore winning with Dua Lipa's "Don't Start Now".

For the first time gifs would be introduced in TNPV 18, Ihese's third win, winning with a margin of just one point.

Ihese and the next four runner-ups would decline to host, with Anne of Cleves agreeing to host TNPV 19 - saving the competition.

ROARING TWENTIES

Skaraborg and Ihese would become the second and third nations respectively to win consecutive editions, "Physical" by Dua Lipa becoming the singer's fourth win - to this date the most successful artist in TNPV history.

Cokoland would win TNPV 24, and host TNPV 25, an edition plagued by an immense delay - an unfortunately uncommon issue when it came to hosting. The edition would be won by The Rhein States with "High Hopes" by Panic At The Disco, with a record breaking score of 144 points. A strict schedule would bring back everything to normal.

THE THIRTIES

TheLandOfFunFunFun would claim their first win with "Rasputin" by Boney M in edition 28, with a record-breaking 151 points (a record that still stands).

Editions 36,37, and 38 would be won by TheLandOfFunFunFun, becoming the only nation to ever win three editions consecutively - just like Ireland in the Eurovision (:D).

THE FORTIES

The Forties would host two of the most close victories ever in the history of the contest.

Edition 41 would see TheLandOfFunFunFun achieve their sixth win with a margin of just one point, while edition 42:

Would see Ihese and TheLandOfFunFunFun tie! - the tie-breaking laws having to come into effect for the first time.

Having been around for almost 4 years, we here at the Council, can safely say that this contest has become a staple of the TNP community, and we hope we can still say that 4 more years into the future!

SPECIAL EDITIONS

The TNPV has had four special editions in its history, all centred around specific musical themes.

The first special edition would be Christmas-themed, which was won by Cokoland with Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You".

The second would be TNPV Congratulations!, its entrants being the winning songs of the first fifteen editions, its contestants having to vote upon which out of these fifteen winners they thought was the best. Kartujia's Viva La Vida would win, crowning it the only song to ever win two editions!

The third special edition would be hosted by Nordic-British Union as TNPV 27 - celebrating the second anniversity of the competition. Neonlake would score 124 points, winning with Crab Rave.

The fourth special edition would celebrate the third anniversary of the competition, and would be dedicated to Non-English songs. TheLandOfFunFunFun would win this edition with 99 Luftballons, the first win in their history-making consecutive hat trick.
