Background

Continuation method is a powerful numerical computation approach. Its prominent features consist of two parts:

(1) solutions dependence on system parameters;

(2) detection of unstable solutions.

Due to these features, continuation method has a variety of applications in physical models, chemical reactions, and biological processes. In this course, we will first set up the theory for continuation method, then move to the software AUTO which implements continuation method, and finally give the application in scientific problems and dynamical systems.

Outline

  1. Setting and theory of continuation methods (Prof. Yueh-Cheng Kuo).

  1. Introduction to AUTO and its application (Prof. Te-Sheng Lin).

  1. Application in reaction-diffusion systems (Prof. Je-Chiang Tsai).

  1. Application in fluid dynamics (Prof. Chia-Chieh Jay Chu)
