Starting out, karateka will train as a white belt. After a period of consistent training, their instructor may suggest that they take their first kyu graing (9th kyu - orange belt).
After this, gradings can potentially be taken every 3 months, with regular attendance at training. There are different requirements at each kyu grading, which can be found here:
Gradings usually take place alongside training from a senior instructor in the KUGB and so even if not grading, club members are encouraged to attend.
After 6 months at 1st kyu, a karateka can be put forward for dan grading (black belt). These take place at special events, separate to kyu grading.
