Tiverton Shotokan Karate Club, established in 1975, teaches traditional Japanese martial arts with a focus on self-defence, fitness, and personal development. Our experienced team of qualified instructors teach students from age 4 to 70+. We offer family-friendly and beginner classes, with family rates available, across Tiverton and Willand.
Karate builds physical fitness, flexibility, confidence, and mental discipline in a supportive, respectful environment. No prior experience or athleticism is needed—training is tailored to individual ability.
The club regularly takes part in local and regional competitions, which builds confidence and skill in the sport.
As a KUGB-affiliated club, all instructors are DBS-checked, first aid trained, safeguarding certified, and fully insured. Classes use pads and soft shields for safety, with semi-contact sparring appropriate to age and skill level. We maintain high standards of discipline and behaviour, ensuring a positive learning space for all.
Karate is more than a sport—it's a way of life.
