School Development Plan
The School Development Plan (SDP) is a strategic plan for improvement.
It should bring together, in a clear and simple way, the school priorities, the main measures it will take to raise standards, the resources dedicated to these, and the key outcomes and targets it intends to achieve.
School improvement is most likely to be sustained when a school establishes a culture of aspiration and a commitment to promoting regular and robust self-evaluation. Self-evaluation must be an integral part of the school development planning process with the resulting actions and targets captured in School Development Plans (SDPs).
We at Tir-y-berth Primary feel that the priorities that we have set out in our SDP (and included below) are the most important for this upcoming year. We aim to improve this school by setting up SDP teams to work on these priorities, reporting to governors and committing to self and peer evaluation to measure the impact of our work within these SDP priorities.
School Philosophy and Aims
As learners at Tir Y Berth Primary we want to be able to:
Be able to say what we feel and think without upsetting others
Always achieve our best, in our work, in our behaviour and in our play
Have the confidence and skills to communicate with others in a variety of different ways
Have opportunities to learn and achieve our targets
Like ourselves, our friends, our village, Wales and the world
Make our own sensible choices
Plan, develop and reflect on or own learning
Take responsibility for our own actions in all situations
Be enthusiastic when we are working on our own or working with others to achieve our targets
Learn in a happy, safe, caring and stimulating environment.
School Development Plan Priorities
Standards and Progress - To improve the attainment of pupils:
In LLC – writing in English and Welsh (revisit closing the gap strategies).
In Number in Mathematics.
Considering Additional Learning Needs and MAT in the above.
Leadership – Further develop management roles to improve AOLE leaders and implement the ‘walk thru’ process.
Curriculum for Wales – To further develop planning, assessment and learning experiences in LLC, Maths & Numeracy, Science and Humanities.
In addition to the above three priorities, we will also be implementing the Lewis Cluster Plan to improve school to school learning with the aim of raising standards and to ensure pupils have a smooth transition to their next phase of learning.
