Attendance

We believe that every child has the right to an education and that attendance at school has a big impact on a child's learning.

At Tir-y-berth Primary School, we take great pride in ensuring that attendance is maintained at a high level and that this is promoted and celebrated right across the school. While your child is with us, we will monitor their attendance very closely, in order to secure the very best education for them.

We regularly check the attendance of pupils and, should any concerns arise regarding your child's attendance, we will be in touch to try and help get your child's attendance back on track!

Our School attendance target is 95.0%.

Holidays in Term Time

As Parents/Carers, you have a legal responsibility to ensure your child's attendance at school. During the academic year, pupils are at school for 190 days and at home for 175 days. Holidays should be taken during the School holiday period in order not to disrupt your child's education.

Holidays during term time disrupt your child's education and impacts unfavourably on their learning.

If the Head Teacher refuses your application and you still take your child out of school, the absences will be treated as unauthorised. Tir-y-berth Primary School reserve the right, in certain circumstances, to request that the educational Welfare service issue parents/carers with a Fixed Penalty Notice under the education (Penalty Notice)(Wales) regulations 2013 for a holiday in term time.

If you are planning on taking your child on Holiday during Term time, please complete the application form below and return to school.
