Standard 4 - Learning Environment – The competent teacher structures a safe and healthy learning environment that facilitates cultural and linguistic responsiveness, emotional well-being, self-efficacy, positive social interaction, mutual respect, active engagement, academic risk-taking, self-motivation, and personal goal-setting.

In this SEL lesson. I taught on "Rethinking". In this lesson, the students learned about how to stop and take a thinking moment before they respond or react to a situation. The students watched a video about a student who wanted to quit the soccer team because she made the team lose the championship game. The students had to do a Summarizing activity on the video. We completed this activity as a whole group. I used an ELMO camera which helped the students follow along with me to complete each section of the organizer. This activity also served as a cross-curricular activity between ELA and SEL.
