About us
The Association is born
For sometime the students, teachers and researchers of Zoology of different academic and research institutes of Burdwan and adjoining districts were contemplating to assemble under a common umbrella where they can exchange their views, ideas and experiences relating to teaching and research and to bring into light the probable impact of this discipline on our society. This noble thinking led to organize a meeting of the zoologists from all spheres on 29-04-1989 at the Department of Zoology, The University of Burdwan where an unanimous decision was taken to form an association-"The Zoological Association of Burdwan". The ad-hoc committee formed in that meeting started functioning from the very beginning and continued till an elected body was formed. The said committee gave membership drive, explained the aims and objects of the association to its members and interested persons, framed the constitution, selected the Emblem and lastly conducted election to form the regular executive body.
First Home of the Association
The association was housed in the Department of Zoology, The University of Burdwan at Golapbag, Burdwan and had received active help and cooperation from all the teachers including Heads of the department, Students and Research scholars in running its day to day activity. The association at this stage was a new born baby and after that nourished and nurtured by zoologists and interested persons from all spheres to grow into an adult capable of fulfilling its aims and objects.
