On 15th-19th May 2023 guests from Partner Schools in Poland and Portugal visited Liceul Tehnologic Nicolae Iorga Negresti, Romania.The meeting was attended by a total of 20 students and 6 teachers from abroad as well as Romanian students and teachers involved in the Erasmus+ project “The Way to Make My Dreams Come True”. The main purpose of the visit was to develop self esteem and emotional intelligence, creativity and stimulate personal development.
Project participants were involved in activities carried out on school premises, in town and within the region.
DAY 1
On the first day of the visit we showed our guests the town. Our students acted as guides. First, we visited the town”s library, where our students gave some basic information about it. The next point of our walk was the town hall, where the mayor welcomed our guests and showed them his office and encouraged some of them to try his seat. The visit continued with the Youth Center where the participants had an workshop on traditions. After finishing the visit of the town, the guests had the opportunity to visit the High school: the Informatics laboratories, the Phonic Lab, The CDI room, The ICT Lab and the library.
DAY 2
On the second day the activities started with ice breaking games held by the Save the Children voluntaries, and continued with the activities meant to make them talk about their hobbies, knowing each other better and building relationships.
We continued with the `Me and Myself`workshops for students and teachers. The aim of the workshops was to increase both teachers and students self esteem, knowing themselves better, identifying their emotions and the way to control them. Being well with yourself to be able to tramsmet this to the students.
The participants of the project took part in an art workshop afterwards. During the workshops participants from Poland and Romania as well as students from our school learned the secrets of painting a t- shirt with romanian traditional motifs. The workshops was held by by Ms. Daniela Pandele. In the afternoon, the participants of the project took part in a frisbee challenge with the school’s team. This game managed to engage enthusiastically all the participants and put everyone in a good mood.
DAY 3
On the third day of the visit, students and teachers from Partner Schools and students from our school with teachers Ms. Mihaela Hanceanu, Ms. Mihaela Rotariu, Ms.Ana-Maria Stirbu, Mr. Gabriel Matei and a project coordinator Ms. Simona Amitricioaei visited the capital of Moldova, Iasi. The purpose of the trip was to get familiar with the culture, customs and geographical background of the region as well as to integrate the participants of the project "The Way to Make My Dreams Come True" and visiting new places together. The participants of the trip took a walk around Iasi, visiting the „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, where the Coordinator of the Learning Center, made a presentation of some important parts of the University, finishing with some tips on the steps one should make in order to take the right decision concerning his/her future. The next places visited by the students and teachers was the History Museum of Al. I. Cuza University.There they were introduced into the world of Cucuteni Civilisation and the beginings of the university. On the way to the Palace of Culture Iasi the group walked around the old center of the city. The weather on that day was good and the trip was a great opportunity to get to know each other better and improve students' language skills.
DAY 4
On the fourth day, students and teachers from the Partner Schools and students of our school, went on a visit to the most important sights from Vaslui. The aim of the trip was to familiarize the guests with the history and culture and to develop communication in English.
The group visited an orthodox church "Tăierea Capului Sfântului Ioan Botezătorul", and after that participated on an activity organized by Europe Direct Vaslui.The day continuesd with a Goosechase in Copou Park Vaslui. The students enjoyed the activity and manage to over come in groups all the challenges, creating wonderful visuals and videos.
Finally, we went to Hanul Boierilor Negresti, where we acknowledged the contributions of guests in the project, giving them certificates and small gifts. This evening was a real succes because all the participants managed to have fun, enjoy every moment. Some of our students who are part of Obarsii Negrestene ensemble presented a series of traditional Romanian dances, and after that all the others learned how to dance them.They also presented Polish and Portuguese traditional dishes, and tried the Romanian ones. This experience helped us realize how dance and music can create a bond between people, no matter the differences.
DAY 5
On the fifth day of the visit there was time for summaries and farewells. Students and teachers from Poland and Portugal met the peers and teachers from Romania for the last time during the five-day visit. The day started with creating in groups a photo collage in which to summarise the stay in Romania. We continuesd with the Gratitude Jar and The Emotions Tree. The meeting was an opportunity not only to summarize the stay of representatives of Partner Schools in Romania and their participation in workshops and classes on communication but also to have fun, talk and even dance together. The participants of the meeting in Romania promised to keep in touch and to share knowledge and experience gained in Negresti with other students in their schools.
