Malik Zenas Newton, born August 10, 1991, is the firstborn son of Marilyn and Carl Newton. Raised with strong family support from his parents and grandparents, Willie Mae Baron and David Brown, Malik grew up surrounded by love, guidance, and faith. He is a proud graduate of Northcutt and John Hopkins Elementary Schools, Point South Middle School, and Mundy’s Mill High School, where he earned a 3.5 GPA. Malik later attended Colorado Technical University. Known for his quiet strength and dedication to family, Malik represents perseverance, resilience, and the values that United With Open Arms seeks to uplift and celebrate.
Tiwonda Swinney is passionate about serving her community and creating meaningful opportunities for others. Through her work with United With Open Arms, Inc., Atlanta Public Schools, and volunteer efforts throughout the community, she has supported initiatives such as Christmas giveaways, Back-to-School drives, and community food distributions. For the past four years, Tiwonda has dedicated her time to programs that uplift families and empower individuals. She believes real change happens through compassion, collaboration, and active service. Tiwonda continues to inspire others to lead by example, fostering a culture of generosity, empathy, and community engagement.
Mr. Leon Lee was born in New York and raised in the Bronx, where he enjoyed a strong family foundation and upbringing. After attending 133 Junior High School, he later relocated to Georgia when his father moved the family south. Mr. Lee comes from a large family with nine siblings. A devoted husband and father of four children, he has built a life centered on family and service. Mr. Lee has worked at Piedmont Healthcare in Fayetteville since 1999, serving in several roles including food services and transportation. Today, he is widely known and appreciated as a warm and welcoming greeter who brightens the day of everyone he meets.
Dr. Elder Linda Roberson is a respected preacher, teacher, Christian counselor, and leadership coach committed to helping individuals live with clarity, purpose, and spiritual alignment. As Founder and CEO of Live in Purpose, she equips leaders and individuals to move beyond past limitations and embrace purposeful living. Known as the “Live in the Now Coach,” Dr. Roberson blends biblical principles, practical wisdom, and real-life experience to inspire transformation. She holds a Ph.D. in Christian Education and Christian Counseling, a Master of Arts in Divinity, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. With over 30 years of ministry experience, she continues to impact lives through teaching, coaching, and leadership.
Qurina “Queenie” Easteher Davis-Tate is a passionate civil rights advocate, motivational speaker, and community organizer known for her powerful voice and commitment to justice. She has spoken nationwide on issues of economic justice and equality, including the Fight for Fifteen campaign and the National Call to a Moral Revival. From 2010–2019, she served as a speaker for the Poor People’s Campaign in Washington, D.C. Queenie also helped establish the N’COBRA Selma Chapter and continues developing community leadership initiatives. As a photographer known as the “Queen of the Black Belt,” she documents historic moments in the civil rights movement through her impactful photography.
Sister Yomi, also known as Abayomi Goodall, is an educator, artist, storyteller, and community activist whose work celebrates African and African American cultural traditions. An accomplished dancer, choreographer, musician, and visual artist, she has performed internationally with renowned groups including Stevie Wonder’s African Dancers Against Apartheid and the reggae group Third World. She founded the Children of the Diaspora Dance Theatre and later established the Sisters of Kuumba ensemble. Since moving to Alabama, Sister Yomi has served as a museum director, educator, and cultural presenter. She is widely recognized for her work preserving history through storytelling, performance, and community engagement.
Shemitria Smith is a Master Life Coach, Goal Success Coach, and Founder & CEO of The Visionary Associates.
