STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE BOOK 1 is a very good trombone method book by Bruce Pearson (pub. KJOS Music, 1993, renewed 2005). The series includes Books 2 & 3. Most of the exercises and songs are written for one part, but there are a few duets. This video and the accompanying ones in this series cover those duets so that students can practice them on their own. For each one-

•the metronome is set at 70.

•there is one full measure of prep beats, except

•for duets with two or three beats per measure, there are two full measures of prep beats.

•for duets with pickup notes, there is a full measure and then the measure that ends with the pickup.

•I play the bottom part first so that the student can play the top part.

•I play the top part second so that the student can play the bottom part.

Try to play the notes in time. Once you can do that, think about matching my style, articulation, and dynamics.
