Emma is from Bradford and spends her time looking out for new American Traditional designs. She likes the different ideas that come to life through tattooing and she enjoys the versatility this style has to offer.
“I think it’s a pretty eye-catching style of tattooing. The variety of what you see in American Trad is really cool, you can see some really unique interpretations of styles. So I guess it’s also pretty versatile.”
"I've been thinking about American traditional tattoos for a while and it's such a classic design - it's something that a tattoo artist is probably just going to do pretty often, so they're going to do it well. I think big cats are pretty cool anyways, so it wasn't any particiular symbolism, it was just that I like how the placement is. I think it fits well with where I got it. It's down the side of my calf. When I spoke to the artist about it, he had a couple of sizes and I knew I wanted it somewehre on my leg. I think the way it's positioned on my leg fits well and it also leaves space open for more tattoos."
"It's a little flower that curves under my kneecap and shin. That style I was looking at for a long time and then saw that the tattoo artist was tattooing at conventions. To be honest, I just really like the positioning under the knee. I like that American trad is really bold but you can bring some feminine and solid ideas to it."
"That's when I went to the Leeds Tattoo Expo. I was already booked in for something below my knee and that day day but there was some time to kill and I knew I wanted another one. I was looking at a lot of classic flash designs but it just felt like a classic design that was going to fit pretty much anywhere on my leg. I chatted with the tattoo artist about the tiger that was already on my left and it just fit really well on my calf - and it left space for when I want to get more [on my leg]."
