Da Station League,
Power Rankings Week 9
1. 7-1 (+1) Four Falls of Buffalo. Justin decided to take his rightful spot back atop the power rankings this week. He pulled out a good win in a close matchup Justin has been known to lose in the past. He has been saying it from the beginning of the season, "Just wait 'til Tom Brady gets back," and back he is. Since his return, Brady has averaged 26.3 points per game, tough for any opponent to overcome. The only areas where Justin struggles is with defense and look for him to scrum the waiver wire for potential fill-ins each week. Pickup of Devontae Booker really makes Justin's team the team to beat going forward as he now possesses the most formidable running back squad seen in recent years.
2. 7-1 (+1) Team Buddy. Sack continues to win somehow. I am forced to keep this man in the second position, but his strategy thus far is just to make the opposing team have a bad week. Joey Burton last week 107.9, this week 78.1. Joe Digrazio, his opponent last week, 55.4, this week 96.1. Not saying there aren't other factors to consider, but those factors just always seem to fall in Sack's favor this season. He's putting up the necessary points to win and has just solid players all around on his roster. At 7-1 Eric is pretty much guaranteed a wild card spot this year. His matchup against Justin this week will be game of the week that everyone's looking at. First of the year to find out who's the true leader of this league.
3. 6-2 (-2) Mediocre ClarinetPlayers. My team finally decided to take a back seat to the two teams above me. It's true that riding on luck and questionable players was bound to catch up with me and because of that, my team took a tough loss to the trash of our league. Definitely a loss that will haunt me until next year, fitting for this weekend's Halloween festivities. I blame the frighteningly low output of T. Y. Hilton, who has done such a good job in leading my team in many of my wins. But the good news for me is that Jay Ajayi is back, I'm playing Taco Moran, and the Brees/Cooks combo is up against SF. I will need this win to ward off Big Dave from making a run for my division title.
4. 4-4 (+1) Time 4 Trump. Four 3-4 teams last week and only one prevailed and that was Big Dave's team. He did so in a BIG way too by having the most points of anyone. Not to say he had a hard matchup against my dad, but he still sent a statement to the rest of the league with such an impressive win. DEZ is back *throws up the x* and had 17.3 points. This Dak Dez combo is one to fear and if Big Dave can make all the right roster decisions going forward, he has the best chance to really take this league by storm. Demarco, Julio, Amari Cooper, and Dez is scary to look at if Dez really is back to full force. His next matchup is against Nick DiGrazio. Big Dave really needs this tie breaker and with basically no byes this week, look for him to pull out another win and become the 4th team in the league with a winning record.
5. 3-5 (+1) Timmy O's. I will first say I think the 5 and 6 spots can be interchangeable. Regardless of that, I think Dave's team finally got over a hump this week that he can finally start to make a run for glory. Even without his star OBJ, Dave still put up some good numbers in his starting QB to WR positions. The only concern Dave should have is one, his D/ST and two, Mark fucking Ingram. Ingram, benched after one fumble, might have to be added to the list of down players for Dave this season as Tim Hightower stole all the carries for the Saints. Who? Who? Who? Will dave start in his flex in up coming weeks? Allen Hurns and Dogman is starting to get their shit together so things are definitely looking up.
6. 3-5 (+2) Drake's New Favorite Team. With one blockbuster deal, Nick vastly consolidated his team this past week. Something I busted on him last week for was not being able to pick the right guys and he still might have that problem but from what I can see he has a clearer picture of who to start with some good sleeper guys in his bench. Nick has a playoff chance but the key is a win this week against Big Dave. Without this win Big Dave will have the two game sweep on him and Nick will still have the losing tiebreaker against Button. The only tiebreaker Nick will control is against Dave. With records so close, these head to head matchup wins mean more than ever. Can Nick win this week without Shady, Fitz, Jordan Howard, or Alshon at his disposal? It'll be tough.
7. 3-5 (-3) My Ball Zach Ertz. Button really disappointed this past week. I gave him all the praise last week having a team that could really do some damage, but he answered that with an under 80 point performance against Eric. Now he has a bunch of his starters on bye this week so Button has the opportunity to drop another game. His schedule gets harder as the year goes on so if he wanted to make the playoffs, last week was key. All that loss does now is make this week even more important. He has a chance, but he has to stay on top of the waiver wire and pray for some luck.
8. 2-6 (+2) Morgan Top Dave Bottom. Hey, look who it is. It's the champ not at the bottom of the rankings for once. Joe DiGrazio has taken it upon himself to finally make some moves. Dealing Shady in that aforementioned blockbuster deal really turned his luck around. Matt Ryan, who was part of the deal, is the number 1 ranked QB and scored 24.4. Broncos D/ST number 2, scored 17. Both of which led him to his 2nd victory against me this week. It might be too little too late (s/o Jojo) for Morgan Top Dave Bottom, but it's nice to see them not give up, not lose all hope, and continue to fight for some major upsets. I think if Joe can somehow spoil the playoff opportunities for Justin, Eric or myself, he will be happy with his season as a whole.
9. 2-6 (-2) Pure Evil. My Dad is really doing his best to compete with Dan and Joe for worst team in the league. After a 2-2 start my father dropped 4 games in a row all scoring under 100 points. That's just not gonna be enough. Sure, everyone has some weeks under 100, but if you want to win any games you need get over that 3 digit hump sometimes and he's only done it once this season. His roster isn't dangerous looking, and he relies on really long shots every week to produce for him. Even guys that I wouldn't start on my team of back-ups. I said it before on previous power rankings, my dad needs to make some moves through trades and waivers or he'll stay where he's at, the bottom of the league.
10. 3-5 (-1) A Team Has No Name. Not much to add here. You all know the embarrassment of Dan's Team this year. I'll reiterate it all for you just in case you forgot. The man has scored 578.7 points in 8 games. (72.3/game). The only reason he has 3 wins is because he has the second least points against [703.4 - (87.9/game)]. But I will say it again for Dan's sake, that he has a slightly better chance over the 2 win teams to make a playoff run. However, with a team of all packer receivers, inconsistent Russel Wilson, and Jacquizz & Asiata who aren't sure to continue their roles, its almost a certainty Dan will struggle to win any more games this year. He needs to hope the opposing teams pretend they're playing Eric and score nothing.
