Sam Christenson is a Ph.D. student working in the labs of Drs. Allen Place and Tsvetan Bachvaroff at the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology. He hopes to build on his biochemistry background and experience working with next-generation sequencing technologies as he investigates toxin biosynthesis mechanisms in dinoflagellates. Sam received the University of Maryland Dean’s Fellowship for the 2025-2026 school year and is a UMCES Centennial Presidential Fellow.
