Microbe-Host Interactions
Applied Molecular Biology
Aquatic Microbial Ecology
Joanne Salzer is a master's student working in the lab of Dr. Allen Place at the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology. Her research interests stem from a fascination with microbe-host interactions in aquatic ecosystems. She aims to learn and apply many different molecular techniques to study the complex role of coral-algal symbiosis in toxin production. Currently, Joanne's master's work focuses on the production of palytoxin in zoanthid corals and how this toxin might be produced across a variety of host-symbiont interactions.
