Our June tournament is open for registration!
Our Seventh meetup is on March 2nd, 2026, at Purcellville Library in Purcellville, Virginia. Drop in any time between 4-6PM!
March Special Guest: Jacob Walters!
Jacob has been passionate about chess for most of his life, first attending meetings at Shenandoah Valley Chess Club nearly 20 years ago as a young player. Over the years, he has developed a deep love for the game and a talent for teaching chess to others, and inspiring new players to grow and enjoy the game.
With a chess.com rating over 2000, Jacob brings a wealth of experience, skill, and strategy to every board he touches.
On the second Monday of the month, we're hosting a Members Only Meeting!
No formal coaching will take place
Recommended for players Owls and above, but all levels are welcome
The coaches will be playing games
Our players leveled at the first Members Only meeting— learning chess clocks, the touch-move rule, and quad tournament play. Real tournament skills in action!
Even better was the sportsmanship and camaraderie in the room. Courage to compete. Resilience to learn. Confidence growing with every round. We were so proud of them all.
Quad Results
Quad 1 Winner: Truett scored 2/3 in his quad.
Quad 2 Winner: Kenneth scored 3/3 in his quad.
Quad 3 Winner: Three-way tie — Felix, Atticus, and Noble all scored 2/3 in their quad.
Quad 4 Winner: Kekoa won a tie-breaker with Crosby. Both scored 2.5/3 in their quad.
Star of the evening: Addy
She jumped in when we needed one more player and crushed it — even demonstrating how to slow down and manage the clock like a pro. A skill that’s hard to teach but seemed to come natural to her.
We truly hope every player walked out stronger than they walked in.
