The Pawn Project Online Tournament is Live on March 16 at 5pm! Come join the fun!
Our mission is to help local youth grow into confident chess players while gaining life lessons the game teaches—patience, strategy, resilience, and good sportsmanship.
The Pawn Project offers FREE monthly meetings where beginner to intermediate players receive one-on-one mini-coaching sessions from skilled youth competitors, and players of all levels have opportunities to sharpen their skills in over-the-board matches with peers of similar playing level. These experiences not only improve chess ability but also foster focus, perseverance, and lasting friendships.
The Pawn Project was founded by 6th grader Truett of Loudoun County, VA, who dreamed of sharing his love of chess with local peers and growing alongside them in skill. Partnering with the Shenandoah Valley Chess Club, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and the Loudoun Library system, he brought that dream to life. Today, Truett serves as Program Director and Lead Youth Coach.
