Flight dynamics have been modified based on official Bombardier technical specifications and hours of testing. Many updates and improvements. Original aircraft made by Project Opensky. Please see the Readme file.
Bombardier CRJ900ER Modification
This is a freeware Bombardier CRJ900ER that I obtained from Simviation. The original model was developed by Project Opensky. The VC is the stock FSX Bombardier CRJ700 VC.
The PFD and MFD gauges used are corrected and improved gauges made by Alexander Barthel.
Aircraft engine sounds are not included. There are good freeware GE CF34 sounds on AVSIM.
The Groundhandling gauge was made by Rob Barendregt. The FMC was made by Garret Smith.
I have made the following modifications:
1. Removed the built-in Landing and Taxi lights from the model, added new lights in the cfg file using stock effects, and corrected top beacon light position in the cfg file.
2. Modified the empty and max weight as well as the passenger and cargo loads. The loads are set up for app. 75-80 passengers plus luggage and other cargo.
3. Changed the moments of inertia for more realistic feel and handling.
4. Adjusted the reference datum position, empty weight cg position, station loads positions, engine positions, fuel tank positions, and contact points.
5. Corrected airplane geometry values.
6. Adjusted contact points.
7. Set engine thrust to correct value for GE CF34-8C, added additional fuel flow gain entries for a longer and more realistic engine start sequence, set engine inlet area to correct value, and changed min throttle limit for more realistic reverser thrust.
8. Modified the fuel tank values to reflect the fuel quantity for the CRJ900ER with standard 3 tanks. Enabled electric fuel pumps which can be turned on/off on the overhead panel.
9. Updated flap and slat values to reflect CRJ900 actual settings and adjusted scalars for realistic performance.
10. Adjusted some flight tuning scalar values for more realistic behavior and handling.
11. Changed toe brake scale for more realistic braking effect.
12. Adjusted the gear warning system and GPWS settings.
13. Removed the wing folding, tailhook, and smokesystem sections.
14. Adjusted some view positions and zoom levels.
15. Added the Groundhandling gauge to the panel.
16. Corrected the exits section of the cfg file.
17. Adjusted the engine ITT max temp in the AIR file to display the reading more accurately.
18. Adjusted the max oil temp and oil pressure in the AIR file to display the readings more accurately.
19. Adjusted the landing gear drag, flaps drag, and spoiler drag in the AIR file for more realistic behavior.
20. Modified the EFIS gauge code - Hydraulics page APU hydraulic pressure reading now works when APU is started, EFIS ECS page engine bleed air pressure readings now work, Engine N1 readings will turn red when above 99.5%, EFIS will now be visible when battery is turned on, added multiple caution and informational EFIS messages, TO Config warning will appear if plane is on the ground and throttle is moved past 50% with no flaps set
21. Modified the Annunciator gauge code -Added TO CONFIG Master Warning
22. Modified the Overhead gauge code - Fixed ignition switch so that it now turns on and off instead of staying on all the time, set the ignition switch to off when aircraft is initially loaded
23. Updated the panel: replaced the stock PFD and MFD gauges with corrected and improved gauges made by Alexander Barthel, removed the popup standby altimeter gauge, removed the minipanel
24. Added a mouse click area near the top of the VC console FMC that opens the 2-D FMC panel when clicked.
25. Added a custom Kneeboard checklist and reference page
The modifications were made based on official aircraft specifications contained in Bombardier and GE documents. The aircraft was tested using P3Dv6, but should work fine in P3Dv4-6 and possibly even earlier versions and FSX.
