Letter formation should start at the top and move downwards, go from left to right, and travel counterclockwise. When teaching a child to print, demonstrate the strokes first so they can learn how you are moving your hand. If a child is having difficulty with orienting the letters, try drawing a box on their page for each letter to fit into.
For tall letters, the pencil should begin at the top of the first line and move toward the bottom of the highlighted section.
For small letters, the pencil should begin at the top of the highlighted section and move toward the bottom of the highlighted section.
For fall letters, the pencil should begin at the top of the highlighted section and move toward the bottom of the lower white section.
