Ryan, Katelynn, and Eva Scott moved into 215 N. Cass Street in June of 2019, after living elsewhere in Middletown for seven years. The space in this 1884 Victorian allows space for hospitality, community, and togetherness. It also came with a dozen or so birdhouses: and thus, "The Nest" was born.
In a culture that pushes us to do more, be self-sufficient, and always look perfect, there's a great need for relationships of acceptance, communities of mutual care and concern. The Scotts want their house to be a safe, comfortable place for everyone to be who they are.
The third floor of The Nest - known as The Perch - is dedicated to people who need a temporary place to live. It has two bedrooms, a common area, and a full bathroom. They want to share this home with people in transition or who just need a little support.
The first floor is spacious and wide open, hosting activities of the Middletown Church of the Nazarene, including a monthly meal. Anyone is invited - if you have food to share or you're just too tired to cook. There is also a weekly Bible study, monthly book club, periodic game nights, and a smattering of other activities available all with the intent to build relationships and support. We're all looking to do life well and this will be a place to figure that out together.
