This is a heavily screen based dark ride with little physical sets. The following physical items are included in the ride: Terracotta Soldiers (Start and End) and General Changping, a mannequin that is projected onto, similar to Constance in Haunted Mansion (Start and End). The soundtrack is similar to the one found in Phantasialand’s Geister Rikscha. Guests enter a replica of The Hall Of Supreme Harmony before entering an elaborate foyer similar to that of Reflections of China’s foyer. Guests then go through a room with paintings of Chinese Mythological Beasts which will be encountered in the ride. Finally, guests enter the load area, themed to an underground brick room in Qin Shi Huang’s Mausoleum, lit only by flickering torches and lined with Qin Dynasty artifacts. Guests board vehicles based on Ancient Chinese Chariots, but there are no horses, there are movable dragons attached to the front, and there are seats beneath the umbrella. These can seat about as much as a Haunted Mansion Doombuggy.
The chariots gently glide into a torchlit room filled with terracotta warriors. Suddenly, the chariots stop as a statue of a general comes to life. He says, “Ni Hao! I am General Changping of Qin. I would like, if I may, to test your skills. Why? So that I may know if you are fit to join Qin’s great army! Use your dragons to control whatever item you are testing with and enjoy yourself. I will be testing you within the land of Kunlun, where several creatures you have never seen dwell. I will not guide you, but I have some friends who will test you. Now, onwards my soldiers-in-training!” Chariots move into a cavern and enter a green land with beautiful mountains based on Zhangjiajie. The first animal encountered is the Shen, a giant clam that emerges from a lake. General Changping’s voice says, “The Shen is a giant clam native to this area! Try to shoot your arrows onto its pearl!” The Shen opens and shuts its shell as guests pull on the dragons, trying to get arrows to hit the pearl in its mouth. After shooting the Shen’s Pearl, guests come face to face with blue stags with human faces.
These are the Baize, said to bring pleasant dreams. One says the following, “Hail. I am a Baize. We work to bring you pleasant dreams but can’t do it on an empty stomach! Could you please shake some of those cherries down?” Guests shake the dragons to get the cherries to fall. Next, guests encounter Leigong, god of thunder, who takes the form of a man with a bird’s head, talons, and golden bat wings. His golden bat wings fluttering behind him, he greets guests, saying, “Hail, mortals. I am Leigong, ruler of the thunder. I need your help to roundup the Dijiangs. Here are some lassoes. Now, get to work, please.”
Guests spin and pull the dragons, trying to wrangle up the Dijiangs, faceless, furry quadrupeds with four wings. The next encounter is with the legendary Monkey King himself, Sun Wukong, who is holding a lot of peaches. He says, “Why hello there! I’m Sun Wukong, the Monkey King and these may look like ordinary peaches, but they’re actually The Peaches Of Immortality. The Queen Mother Of The West lent me some so that I could test your swordsmanship. So, I’m going to throw these and you’ll try to slice them. You get me?” Sun Wukong promptly begins throwing the peaches and guests move their dragons from left to right to slice the peaches. After that, guests will come upon a teal lion with an orange mane, hooves, and black antlers, the Qilin, which is often equated to the unicorn of European mythology. It says, “Greetings. I am Qilin and I need your help.
The Nian has emerged from the Yellow Sea and is causing trouble. Wave these red banners at the Nian to scare it away.” Guests move the dragons up and down to wave the banner, scaring the Nian, which looks like a lion dancer. A red peacock, a fenghuang, flies above guests before a blue dragon appears. The dragon roars before diving into the water. A black tortoise crawls, then, a white tiger dashes, roaring. Suddenly, a flock of Shangyang Rainbirds flies in, causing a downpour. They sing a harmonic plea for help, “Help us Shangyang Rainbirds please! The Xiangliu has arisen from its watery domain. Please use your arrows to slay this beast!” The Xiangliu, a nine headed snake, arises from the water. Guests pull on their dragons to shoot the many heads of the Xiangliu. Suddenly, guests reunite with General Changping in a room full of terracotta soldiers. He says, “Welcome back to the land of mortals. I have assessed your performances and I am glad to say that you can join the ranks anytime. We’re so happy that you could join us! Here are your overall scores!” The general points to a scoreboard where guests can see their scores. Guests unload in an armory full of Ancient Chinese weapons and armor before exiting through a hallway lined with suits of armor.
