Located within The Lights District is the Sugar Rush Go-Kart Raceway, and as the name suggests it is a Go-Kart racetrack. Guests are invited to a new high tech, high throttle, high fun experience in this completely indoors raceway. Sugar Rush Go-Kart Raceway promises to redefine what go-karting can be, and will a highlight for anyone visiting The Lights District with the promise of pure fun. The raceway will have a height requirement of 48 inches, an age requirement of at least 6; guests under 18 must have a liability waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. For guests under 18 they must be 54 inches or taller to ride solo.
The exterior for the raceway will be made up of multiple facades due to the size and shape of the raceway. Two different facades will act as the entrance and exits for the raceway. The raceway's exterior will be inspired by The Marlin, The Essex House, and The Webster of Miami Beach, The Manor Road Garage of West Sussex serving as the exit and gift shop, and the National Tobacco Company Ltd building of Napier serving as the entrance. The entry arch will be redone with tire tracks embedded within. At night lights will revolve around the archway making it seem like it's moving.
When guests walk into the lobby they are met by a lively atmosphere, and the check in counter for the experience. At the counter guests can buy tickets for the raceway, or redeem tickets they bought online. Guests will then be given a buzzer to wait. A lounge offers guests a place to sit and relax as a monitor shows real time footage of guests racing on the course. The restrooms are located within the Lobby along with a screening room for the track, and two hallways. One of these hallways take guests to bleachers allowing them to watch racers and cheer them on. The other hallway leads to the exit and gift shop, Raceway Pit Stop.
When the guests buzzer begin to buzz they are led into a screening room.
The go-karts will be state of the line electric go-karts created in partnership with Tesla. Embedded into each go-kart will be an RFID chip, and headboard speakers. The RFID chip will have multiple usages it will connect with Magic Bands, and cameras throughout the raceway to take pictures and videos of guests. Guests can purchase these pictures and video of their full race online or at the gift shop. The RFID chip will send out signals to other go-karts acting as an anti crashing measurement, if a go-kart is about to hit another go-kart it will automatically slow down to avoid collision. The RFID chip will also be connected a key that every guest gets before boarding. The key will also allow for the cameras to know which vehicle is which giving riders tailor made videos, and avoiding that awkward situation when guests get their pictures plus some other families pictures.
Before boarding guests will receive three items: a helmet, a pair of AR goggles, and a RFID key. As guests are led to their boarding area for their go-karts they will be instructed to plug in their key into a screen allowing for guests to choose between 20 different songs that will be remixed with the Sugar Rush theme as guests race. The default choice is Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna. After choosing a song the information is sent to the key, and when it comes to drive it is relayed to the RFID chip in the car allowing the speakers to play that certain song.
Each helmet has a camera embedded within that records a first person point of view version of the race. The last major technological aspect are the AR goggles. Every pair of goggles is connected to each other and the course through an internal network. These goggles will give new life to the course combining the physical sets of theming while adding in elements that are alive adding to the experience. Thanks to the AR goggles guests will be able to use a variety of items to slow down their competition, or even give themselves a speed boost. It also gives life to course hazards that have to be navigated around. The AR world that guests will be racing in will be what guests see on the video they purchase at the end. The combination of AR and physical sets ensure a race that comes straight out of the world of Sugar Rush.
Through the technology and the fun that is go-karting guests will be sent into a whole new world of racing.
As Cast Members collect buzzers from guests they will be escorted into a screening room themed around a candy based garage. As the last of the guests enter the cast member closes the door, and Taffyta Muttonfudge walks out onto the screen. She has an earpiece on, and a clipboard on.
Taffyta: I can't believe I'm stuck on player duty with the glitch.
Taffyta turns and notices the guests watching and hearing her. She nervously laughs, and begins to talk in a fake cheery tone. The kind that those popular mean girls use to sound nicer.
Taffyta: Hi racers! I'm just sooo excited to see so many eager faces! My name is Taffyta Muttonfudge, and I will be all of your coaches giving you some tips as you drive! And Vanellope will be on the roads with you to make sure you guys have a swell time! And here she is! Vanellope von Schweetz!
As Taffyta motions towards the side no one appears. She continues to hold a large fake smile as she whispers Vanellope's name lowly. In the distance guests can hear a car approaching the area, and suddenly a glitching noise. Vanellope glitches into the garage whipping her car around to face guests. All the while Taffyta screams recoiling out of shock launching her clipboard into the air.
Taffyta: VANELLOPE! OH MY GUMDROPS!!! NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!
Vanellope: Taffyta lighten up a bit, don't be such a sour head. Why hello there racers I am Vanellope von Schweetz, the best racer in all of Sugar Rush and your driving instructor!
Vanellope and Taffyta go over safety warnings along with explaining how to use the go-karts. After all the whole spiel Vanellope and Taffyta wish them good luck, and the doors open allowing guests to enter into the next portion of this experience.
Guests stop at the gates of the go-karts. As guests see the last racers finish their last lap they are allowed to choose what song they would like to hear. Upon opening twenty songs will be available all of which are high energy, perfect for a fun go-kart ride. Some songs will be present that have explicit lyrics, but the songs will be edited to remove said lyrics. The songs will be remixed with the Sugar Rush race them from the film, Royal Raceway. After the last batch of riders are done with their last lap, guests are told to put on their AR goggles along with their helmet. Guests then board their go-karts, and insert the key to start.
As racers rev their engines, Sour Bill climbs a ladder with a checkered flag.
Sour Bill: ready? set? go. yay what fun.
Racers zoom past the starting gate, and pass the bleachers. The bleachers will be a combination of physical bleachers with people watching, and AR bleachers with candies cheering you on. On the base of each bleacher will be advertisements for fake candy companies along with an ad for Tesla due to their creation of the go-karts. The Tesla ad will feature Wynnchel and Duncan driving the car through a candy cane forest. After passing the bleachers a line of item boxes await guests. Guests that are able to get item boxes are able to get the following items:
Sprinkle Spikes: Sharp sprinkles are let loose behind the racer, and if a go-kart goes over them it will slow down.
Cherry Bomb: A cherry the lights up, and is thrown behind racers. Explodes after a couple seconds. If caught in the explosion go-karts will slow down.
Sweet Seekers: Cinnamon hard candies that roll after the nearest racer, slowing them down
Sugar Rush: Sugar cubes that gives racers a slight speed boost.
Boosts and slowdowns are temporary, and do not last the entire race.
After the first round of items racers enter Gumball Gorge. Physical oversized gumball machines flank the track forming a wall. As racers drive out of Gumball Gorge they enter Candy Cane Forest where racers have to maneuver around Candy Cane Trees. On the branches of each tree peppermints grow like fruit. After leaving the Candy Cane Forest they encounter the base of Diet Cola Mountain.
Taffyta: They're going to crash!
Vanellope: Guys ignore her trust your instincts!
Racers drive straight through the base as it was only AR, racers selected begins to play. They now enter Vanellope's home made course. Racers race around the pool of the bubbling Diet Cola Hot Spring, and go into a tunnel that take them up to the upwards portion of the Diet Cola Hot Spring. Before getting to the second level of the mountain racers can pick up another item box. Racers now on the second level race around the towers of Mentos that hang from the ceiling. Some stacks are physical others are AR. The racers continue on the upper levels, Ralph can be seen by a wall he punched a hole through.
Ralph: You guys are doing great!
Taffyta: He's not even in the code!
Vanellope: Sure he is! He's an easter egg?
Racers go through the punched out hole entering a bridge over Nesquik Sand, and surrounded by Laffy Taffy vines. As the bridge continues to descend racers drive through Frosty Alley, an area of ice cream with chocolate fudge, caramel, sprinkles, and other toppings decorating the variety of ice cream balls that make up the hills and ridges of Frosty Alley. The last round of item boxes are present at the end of Frosty Alley.
Racers approach where they started, and enter the second lap of the course. In the second lap more of the AR begins to intertwine with the physical sets that make up the majority of the course. In Gumball Gorge the gumball machine doors have opened upwards, and giant gumballs roll out into the track going up and done. The gumballs will occasionally roll off the course allowing for new ones to be dispensed. If a racer hits a gumball it would be destroyed, and racers would momentarily slow down.
In the Candy Cane Forest the peppermints that were growing on the branches begin to fall off and break causing racers to maneuver around the pieces or be slowed down. Above the Candy Canes will be a blimp that has appeared advertising fictional candy.
As racers are about to reenter Vanellope tells Ralph to hit it as he begins to "wreck" it Mentos begin to fall down into the Hot Springs causing geysers to shoot up. Puddles of Hot Diet Cola will begin to appear randomly throughout the inside of the mountain.
When racers exit into the vines of Laffy Taffy they have begun to move around and sing along to whatever song racers choose before driving. White in Frosty Valley the toppings have begun to melt, and if racers try to dive through the chocolate sauce they would get a small boost in speed while caramel would slow racers down a bit. Racers now enter the last lap of the course.
Full chaos has erupted throughout the course on the third lap. Other Sugar Rush racers now appear in the bleachers watching and cheering racers. In Gumball Gorge the amount of gumballs and size of gumballs have increased making it more difficult to navigate. While the Candy Cane forest has a visitor.
Sergeant Calhoun and Felix have appeared on the Sergeants hoverboard.
Calhoun: Let's spice things up a bit.
Felix: Be careful Tammy!
Calhoun begins to blast the track with her gun.
Vanellope: What the!
Taffyta: If your hobo friend joins, then Mom and Daddy join!
Racers now have to navigate the forest as peppermints continue to plummet and Calhoun blasts the track like a madwoman.
Continuing back into Diet Cola Mountain the Mentos have been quickly falling at a rapid rate. The Hot Spring have started to bubble up like crazy and giant geysers shoot up around the spring. The mountain begins to shake a bit as the Mentos continue allowing for an eruption.
Approaching Frosty Valley for the last time the toppings have made a mess of the track as very few places are not covered by toppings. Racers must wisely maneuver around the mess of toppings to get to the finish line. In the background Diet Cola Mountain has begun to erupt. Upon crossing the finish line racers depart for the gift shop.
